Senior tourism and economic development professional based in North East England, David Bowe joins the jury of IGCAT’s World Food Gift Challenge 2026.

David Bowe works on strategic programmes that support the growth of the visitor economy, strengthen local businesses, and enhance the region’s reputation as a destination for culture, food, and experiences. His work focuses on product development, innovation, accessibility, and destination growth, particularly within the food, drink, and hospitality sectors.

He has been closely involved in initiatives that position gastronomy as a driver of place identity, regeneration, and inclusive growth. His work includes supporting businesses in developing visitor experiences, improving market readiness, and connecting to wider regional and international opportunities.

David also serves as Vice Chair of the Confederation of British Industry’s North East Future Leaders Network, representing the tourism, hospitality, and retail sectors and supporting collaboration between business leaders and regional decision-makers. He is actively involved in promoting North East England’s distinctive food culture and supporting its bid to become a European Region of Gastronomy 2029.

With extensive experience in tourism development and regional strategy, David brings a practical perspective on how food gifts can reflect local identity, support businesses, and enhance the appeal of destinations through authentic and market-ready products.
